We strongly believe that diverse, inclusive environments are critical for maximizing scientific achievement. Throughout history, so much scientific potential has been squandered because of prejudice and bias. This must end. We strive to develop a culture that cherishes its employees and the diversity of their ideas.
We work to build a more inclusive community within CST, one reflective of the diversity and complexity of our local communities and our global customers. We also understand our responsibilities extend beyond our walls. For this reason, we are committed to fighting for diversity and justice within the scientific community and our society as a whole. We recognize this is a long journey, and we aspire to achieve progress through diligence, accountability, and humility.
CST has committed to 50% diversity representation on the corporate Leadership Team by 2025.
A monthly seminar series of external, expert speakers was launched in 2020 dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) topics. They tackle interesting and sometimes difficult subjects to enrich our community with a better understanding of what diversity, inclusion, and equity mean and how each of us can champion the value of “only together we can be our best.” Topics from the first year included:
Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are voluntary, employee-led groups with the purpose of building meaningful connections across different experiences, culture, and interests, with an intent to build a culture of belonging that aligns with company values and business objectives. ERGs have been founded to support LGBTQ and Women in Science within the CST community.
Pride Signaling. In partnership with our allies, we support and enable a respectful and welcoming culture for our LGBTQ+ community at CST by providing programs and initiatives that promote representation, increase awareness, and address barriers to inclusion.
RISE (Represent | Inspire | Support | Empower). With our allies, we support and empower all who identify as women at CST by providing programs that advance the representation of women at our organization, enable collaboration, and promote learning for gender equity.
A Reverse Mentorship Program was initiated to give members of CST leadership fresh perspective on company culture and how young workers regard careers and development.
A Multicultural Potluck is held annually and lets CST employees enjoy home-cooked meals from their coworkers’ homelands.
